Out of Borders is a drawing installation created in 2019. The composition is variable, allowing it to be reconfigured in order to re-examine the drawing from multiple perspectives—redefining and deconstructing it to explore themes of instability, adaptability, and change.
The work investigates territory and its relationship to identity, using memory as an active component in redefining both the present and the future. The landscape within the installation represents an active site in the process of shaping an individual’s sense of belonging. The oversized mineral evokes a memorial or monument; the trees have roots but lack land to anchor them; flags appear without clear meaning; and elements such as buildings, maps, and fragmented pieces of land suggest displacement. Together, these narratives and symbols point to movement and the search for a new home.
